From Santa Ynez to the Modern Interior: A Table Reimagined
Scalloped like a petal and crowned in polished stone, The Petal Crest is a graceful expression of movement and material. Likely crafted in the mid-20th century, this rolling side table has been thoughtfully restored to preserve both its utility and sculptural charm.
Its top is cut from Alexandrita quartzite—a luminous natural stone with soft veining in peach, pale green, and cream. Cool to the touch and subtly reflective, it evokes the elegance of heirloom jewelry and brings quiet dimensionality to the piece. The gently rounded edges of the stone surface contrast beautifully with the crisp verticality of the apron, detailed with a rhythmic scalloped trim.
A single drawer rests below, fitted with understated brass hardware, and a lower shelf framed by carved supports adds further utility. Set on vintage casters, the piece glides easily from room to room—ideal as a mobile accent in living rooms, entryways, or bedrooms. While not a traditional bar cart, The Petal Crest lends itself beautifully to elegant display and adaptable function.
This piece lived for decades in the rolling hills of Santa Ynez, where it was cherished in a private estate. It was later stabilized, gently cleaned, and refinished in a pale, matte wash that complements the delicacy of the stone. Its character was preserved with intention, allowing the form and materials to speak with quiet clarity.
Designed for aesthetes, designers, and collectors who value lightness, movement, and enduring craftsmanship, The Petal Crest offers a poetic yet practical form—ready to become a tactile heirloom in modern hands.
